The Aptos Blockchain: Safe, Scalable, and Upgradeable Web3 Infrastructure

The Aptos project is a Layer-1 with a focus on scalability, safety, reliability, and upgradeability as key principles. Inspired by Meta's Diem and Novi projects, it was launched in October 2022. Interesting technical aspects of Aptos include the AptosBFTv4 consensus mechanism, the Quorum Store mempool protocol, the Block-STM parallel execution engine, and the programming language Aptos Move, which are discussed in this paper.
